My poor friend. I did not realize I had given him escaping chickens. They should all have little Ninja outfits on. They are quite happy in their new home. Plenty of room to roam and scratch for bugs. Lots of fruit and grass to eat, and plenty of sunshine. Their coop is big enough for about 30 chickens, but they just won’t stay in it. Every day he finds them in another part of the yard happily clucking and scratching and getting into mischief. We are going to outsmart them this weekend and put a cover over the outside section of the coop. Then we will have mad chickens. So cute.

Would you like to thank a soldier and help a military family? Read on!

The Last Jump is a war story, a mystery, a love tale, and a tribute to the people who won World War II. Fact and fiction intermix seamlessly to unravel a secret passionately guarded by four aging soldiers. The reader is transported back in time to an imperfect America, with all is incredible virtues and vexing shortcomings, struggling with racial and gender issues while fighting for its very survival. It was a time when Americans stood shoulder to shoulder to free the world from tyranny. It celebrates the spirit and courage of ordinary citizens pitted against the militaristic regimes of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. It was a time when the sons of presidents and senators served, fought, suffered and died alongside average Americans and famous celebrities.

J.P. Kilroy, a middle-aged divorced journalist, regrets ignoring his mother’s deathbed request. Even her last letter, which told of the existence of a mysterious family secret, did not motivate him to reconcile with the father who left them 30 years ago. When he receives an invitation from the White House to attend a Medal of Honor awards ceremony for African-Americans, he also discovers his estranged father recently passed away.

Was the secret now lost forever?

Kilroy also discovers that four aging veterans, the only links to the past, not only know the secret but swore an oath never to reveal it. They are the free-spirited Sky Johnson, a rough and tumble paratrooper, Frank West, the studious company commander, Harley Tidrick, Omaha Beach veteran and cousin of his father’s best wartime buddy, and Lincoln Abraham, the only living black honoree at the ceremony.

With the aid of Cynthia Powers, an alluring Army press liaison, Kilroy accepts the challenge to cajole the veterans into revealing the mystery. Their conversations take him back in time to a country in grave danger but a country as united as never before or since. But the old warriors stubbornly resist until the last one passes on and Kilroy’s hopes are dashed. But one reaches from beyond the grave to identify the only other person who has the answer and Kilroy races death to reach her. And a shocking conclusion awaits him, if only he can get there in time!

Graves’ End: A Magical Thriller
Sean Patrick Traver
4.2 Out of 5 Stars (30 Reviews)
Genre: World Literature | Fantasy

FREE for a limited time

A modern-day witch helps an undead detective solve the mystery of his own resurrection in this magical thriller with a touch of classic LA noir!

Los Angeles PI Dexter Graves was pretty sure his life ended back in 1950, after a mysterious femme fatale shot him through the head. When Graves involuntarily rises from his grave sixty years later, he finds himself drawn to freelance sorceress Lia Flores, who introduces him to an underworld he never could’ve imagined. Lia sets out to discover the meaning behind Graves’ unexpected intrusion into her enchanted life, but neither the witchgirl nor the skeletal detective has any idea they’re being set up by an old-school player on the LA scene: mobster/monster Mickey Hardface, also known as Mictlantecuhtli, the ambitious king of the Aztec realm of the dead.

Funny and fast-paced, this genre-bending love letter to the City of Angels blends surreal magical fantasy with the narrative drive of a taut crime story. Epic in scope and rooted in California history, GRAVES’ END adds a new chapter to the mythology of the post-Halloween holiday known as el Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.

BLOOD IN THE HILLS

The Circle 8 bunch were really just outlaws and rustlers. Their leader, Mort Dudley had a devious plan to get rid of a couple of his newly hired hands before the bunch cashed in the large herd of cattle that had fallen into their hands when they murdered the old man who owned the herd.

Their trouble began when they tried to frame a quiet stranger for the old man’s murder. They didn’t know his real name or that he was a deadly gunfighter and the son of the old man they had buried in an unmarked grave.

The quiet stranger drops out of sight to hide from the law and soon becomes the bane of the Circle 8 bunch; harassing them on all sides, hunting them down and frustrating all their rustling plans and profits.

When Mort Dudley swears that the hills would run with blood, he was right. But he didn’t know whose blood it would be.
