I am not sure exactly what I was thinking, but I think I might have started a little Noah’s Ark. This morning I woke up and fed my two chickens, two dogs, two NEW goldfish (Betty and Veronica), and my one cat that is as big as two. My two kids are not ready to eat yet, so I might wait two more hours. HA!

Hour of the Wolf

No day is ever wasted that can be lived consciously and to the full.

2 A.M. The hour of the wolf. You wake up filled with regrets, and haunted by dashed dreams, wondering what went wrong.

For Paul Lipton, a successful lawyer in his sixties, his mind’s howling in the darkness reminded him that time was slipping away. Perhaps partly because both his parents had died when they were young, and because he had already experienced his own severe health crisis, he wanted to be sure to live each day to the fullest. He decided he would start viewing each day afresh and in the now as a do-over, each night dying and each morning being reborn. His philosophy was to say, “I am me today,” and ask, “How do I choose to live in the now?”

His solution to these sleepless nights became an adventure, and an experiment in ageless living.

To silence the howls of the wolf, Lipton took off in the footsteps of his fictional hero, Larry Darrell in W. Somerset Maugham’s novel The Razor’s Edge. His journey took him first to the Himalayas. He then continued his external and internal travels that included crossing the ice fields of Mont Blanc, a shamanic retreat at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, and motorcycle adventures across Florida’s Alligator Alley, the Rocky Mountains, and the back roads of North Carolina. In the process, he discovered he was not a prisoner of the past. His changed perspective had given him a new lease on life.

What happens when the owners of a crumbling British mansion turn to crime?

Freddie and Lady Anne Breech are resigned to sharing their remote, decaying ancestral home on the East Anglian marshes with about forty uninvited guests – residents of a seedy old people’s home run by the vicious, greedy Pecry family.

While Freddie augments his tiny pension by robbing strangers on the deserted motorway, his wife indulges herself in her passion for shooting the remaining wildlife. As for the Pecrys, they have no qualms about allowing an enthusiastic young would-be doctor to experiment on their charges.

But all their lives are changed when an over-curious visitor stops on the road one night and suffers an unfortunate accident. Enter a naive young journalist from Country Life magazine with a misplaced reverence for the landed gentry, and a potential purchaser with doubtful business ethics, and the resulting confusion begins to get out of hand.

And when ex-gangster Bill Staggs also comes down from London for some country air, the elderly couple and their friends among the younger “Golden Guests” discover talents and appetites they never knew they had, as the local Police struggle to keep up with a sex-fuelled crime-wave…

Genre: Humor | Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

Senior Sleuth

Senior snoop, Agnes Barton, has taken up residence in a Winnebago at a campground in East Tawas, Michigan. It’s not the ideal place for a woman of seventy-two to live, but she’s making do. She had planned to start a detective agency with partner in crime, Eleanor Mason, but a snag with the license has them free wheeling it, not that it matters because they are the ones folks call when dead bodies turn up.

A frantic phone call has Agnes and Eleanor racing to the scene of yet another crime scene. Herman Butler has fallen to his death from a third story window, and the widow, Betty Lou, is beside herself with either grief or competing for the Oscars, and it’s up to Agnes and Eleanor to unravel the mystery, which gets more interesting when a ghost is listed as a possible suspect.

This time around, Agnes and Sheriff Peterson can agree, the widow is nuts, but wait, a few days later the ghost ship, Erie Board of Trades, was spotted off the shores of Lake Huron. Ghost hunters, G.A.S.P., hightail it into town, and East Tawas is overrun with ghost sightings.

Agnes and Eleanor must sort fact from fantasy before another body is found or a curse is realized.
