Unfortunately the chickies enjoy the new plants I have planted in the garden. I will need to put each plant in a plant prison. That’s quite a look for spring.

Pearl Water’s childhood was shattered the night she stood at her bedroom window and watched her mother run away without a glance back. Only ten years old, Pearl was left to care for the family and take over her mother’s responsibilities.
Eight years later as the approach of midnight beckons, Pearl finds herself on the edge of eighteen and running, as her mother did, in search of freedom and the youth she’d been denied.
But freedom has a price.
She ends up on foreign turf; a farm in Oregon with her volatile boyfriend, Roy and his family, who seem to hold even more secrets than her own. As time goes by, Pearl is drawn into beautiful but also tumultuous relationships with these strangers in Oregon, all the while losing a bit of herself with each drop of booze Roy drinks.
As secrets unfold, Pearl wonders how much of her own past is truth and what has been a lie. And would the answer come too late, as her world spirals down into a path of destruction?

Shadows Live Under Seashells
Allan J. Ashinoff
(32 Reviews)
Genre: Mystery, Thriller & Suspense | Science Fiction
FREE for a limited time
Set in 2084, Shadows Live Under Seashells is a frighteningly relevant look at the fears that we allow to guide our decisions today and their impact on the future of the United States and, ultimately, all of mankind. The story follows the life of Elliot Fintch, a man raised in a new world order and taught to think, act, and conduct himself as the Administration, mankind’s single governing body, dictates. Elliot, because of his profession as an Eductor – a creative thinker – is sent to Mars to investigate a string of murders that have been quietly occurring on the Red Planet for decades. To continue advancing in his profession and maintain favor with the Administration, Elliot must discover why these murders are happening. He must work out how they can be stopped before they become known to the public and raise questions about the Administration’s legitimacy to govern.
Shadows Live Under Seashells is a story of one man’s enlightenment in what some would consider a Utopian society. It exemplifies the notion that although a seashell may look ornate, bright, and beautiful on the beach, there is always a shadow underneath that could be hiding something ugly, dangerous, or even threatening.

Pretty Much True (previously titled Homefront)is a story of waiting, of living in that place called “limbo,” and of coming to understand how little control any of us really has. It is a story of love, jealousy, unlikely friendships, and the effects of fearing the ultimate loss. A cast of characters drawn together by war and by circumstance–a cab driver, a Vietnam veteran, a martyr mother in-law figure, a hippie downstairs neighbor, and the modern-day media as its own antagonizing character–deliver a unique and realistic perspective of America as it was in the early days of the Iraq war and of the torment of waiting for a loved one to survive it.
