I always found that the Pegasus was a much more useful animal than the Unicorn. Of course you can ride it like a regular horse to get anywhere fast. If you’re stuck in traffic, you can make it fly. If you are cold, it can wrap it’s wings around you. A best of all, unlike a unicorn, it can sit at the bar at your local watering hole without knocking all the expensive liquor off the top shelf. Unicorns do that ALL the time and then they never pay the tab. Unicorns are rude that way.

THE VERY ACHE THAT BONDS THEM WILL TEAR THEM APART

When Lily, a chic menswear designer, is offered a photo editorial in Italy, she invites her best friends to join her on the Isle of Capri for a dream escape from husbands and children. Friends for over 12 years, wives of golf buddies, these six are bravely enduring their marriages with a Doris Day morality. But it’s 1979 in swinging L.A., where the stigma of divorce has all but dissolved.

They head off with the best of intentions, so sure that they will find Renewal. Each has reason to crave it:

LILY, a peacemaker and born storyteller, honors her marriage to an emotional tyrant although clearly beaten down.

GRACE, a model, as striking as she is opinionated, is a devoted wife but remains bravely unfulfilled.

PENN, a prim, dutiful perfectionist, ignores her husband’s frequent and extended cocktail meetings as if their church attendance will bring transformation.

DEEDEE, a bodacious bombshell, a brassiere-fitting specialist, grows weary of her immature husband who despises his stepdaughter and mother-in-law.

CAT, a self-absorbed dreamer, grasps for purpose, railing against her traditional Italian husband and his meddlesome, dominating mother.

AMELIA, a beauty, nurturing and resilient, chooses the security of marriage while resenting her husband’s philandering.

Their mutual expectation of renewal—rekindled patience for flawed spouses and unruly children—warps violently given Capri’s temptations. Two factions form: four seduced by the balm of exotic male attention while emboldened by anonymity, versus pristine Lily and hypercritical Grace. The conflict escalates; the friendship unravels. The wives return to face their newly determined husbands.

Not long thereafter, a serious occasion wrenches an obligatory promise from each forcing them back to Capri to face the consequences of their blunders—including a secret brutal crime.

MYSTERY, HISTORY, ADVENTURE, AND ROMANCE IN THE OUTER BANKS!

What do you get when you combine coastal history and ecology, scuba diving, a love story, and a violent crime? In this quirky low-key murder mystery/adventure, Storm Ketchum, a damaged emigre to the coastal town of Avon on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, likes to mind his own business and isn’t any kind of detective – until he’s forced to become one by extraordinary circumstances. On the verge of losing his modest waterfront home to an unscrupulous developer, Ketch stumbles onto the scene of a crime that might expose the perpetrator of an unsolved murder and enable him to save not only his own home, but also the similarly threatened bohemian boatyard community he’s inexorably drawn into.

And in case Plan A fails, he’s hard at work on a Plan B that’s both laudable and pitiable – if he can’t stop them from seizing his property and ruining what’s left of his historic town, he’s hell-bent on turning the event into a unique kind of political statement.

Together with his loyal dog, a salty charter boat captain, the sketchy denizens of the boatyard, and an alluring scuba diving instructor who may or may not have a hidden agenda, Ketch struggles to make sense of his new reality, while trying to save some of the things that really matter along the way.

Math City is a place in a Math book, and the pages of the book are the streets of Math City.

In this City, Monster Number was grossly overweight and had a shaggy body, like a mammoth. In the beginning, Monster Number could not walk very well. Though he swayed a little, tottering and often falling, my father trained him for detecting and killing. After a few days, we attacked Math City.

Math City was bombarded, the doors and the walls shaking while the dark shade of the Monster Number came down, covering the city. Monster Number threw big stones, one after another; and like a repulsive ghoul crashed through any barrier.

Then, after many horrible explosions, Monster Number entered the city, and we followed him. He smashed countless numbers as he put down his steps on the earth.
