I have zero interest in putting my chickie Heather in a broody box. She has always been sweet and cuddly, but now she is insanely cute and cuddly. She even changed shape into a cuter version of herself. I had her sitting on my lap, petting her and telling her about my day (I think she likes gossip) and she never tried to leave or even move for that matter. She fell asleep listening to me chatter on, and I swear I fell asleep to for a few minutes. Just a crazy chicken lady and her chicken.

River Sunday Romance Mysteries series, Book 1: A history professor finds himself head over heels in love with his muddy but beautiful archeology partner in a dangerous dig. Dr. Frank Light, archaeologist, is vastly annoyed. He’s settled into a plush life – cushy department-head job at a university, suave girlfriend, book in the works. Now he’s been ordered into the sludgy, back-water marshes of Maryland to fend off hordes of mosquitoes, all because of an inconsequential find at a bridge construction site. Maggie, the outspoken state archaeologist working the dig, insists the shipwreck has historical significance. Pastor Allingham is even more vehement, insisting the decaying timbers hide a rumored, long-lost slave graveyard.

Real estate tycoon Jake Terment is furious that his construction project is held up by the growing concerns of Frank and his team. Jake cranks up the pressure for a quick resolution. Others passionately feel the archaeology project should either come to a crashing halt or press full speed ahead. An eclectic group of butterfly fanatics, a mysterious waterman of Mexican heritage, a curvaceous movie star, and even ghosts make their presence known.

When several attempts are made on the team members’ lives, Frank draws on lessons from his Vietnam vet past. He has to decide on which side of this battle to stake his claim – and if he is ready to risk his life again for his beliefs.

4.6 Stars (324 Reviews)
Genre: Travel | Biographies & Memoirs

FREE for a limited time

There comes a time in every man’s life when he says to himself, “Holy Sh*t! I’m about to be eaten by a bear!” Tony James Slater went to Ecuador, determined to become a man. It never occurred to him that ‘or die trying’ might be an option… The trouble with volunteering in a South American animal refuge is that everything wants a piece of you. And the trouble with being Tony, is that most of them got one. Just how do you ‘look after’ something that’s trying its damnedest to kill you and eat you? And how do you find love when you a) don’t speak the language, and b) are constantly covered in excrement and entrails? If only he’d had some relevant experience. Other than owning a pet rabbit when he was nine. And if only he’d bought some travel insurance… That Bear Ate My Pants is the hilarious tale of one man’s quest to better himself. Whether losing a machete fight with a tree, picking dead tarantulas out of a tank of live ones or sewing the head back on to a partially decapitated crocodile, Tony’s misadventures are ridiculous, unbelievable and always entertaining. Long before Sky One got involved, there were already plenty of Idiots Abroad. This is the story of one of them…
