It turns out I like long walks on the beach. Growing up in California all my life and being only 30 minutes from the beach, one would think I would be at the beach every chance I got. I hate the beach. Too much sand, too much wind, and it’s so cold. Not this weekend though. We went camping by the beach with close family friends and it was perfect. The sun was out, the weather warm and the water was only cold instead of freezing. The kids were having a blast staying well out of the sharks reach. Hubby was getting mad at me for telling the baby bassets that there were sharks waiting to eat people. As soon as we showed up we noticed the signs posted that there was a great white spotted two days ago. Point for mom!

70-something Oreny “Big” Johnson has a problem. Actually, he has two. Or maybe three. The first is that he’ll be dead from cancer, less than a year, which doesn’t particularly concern him: “The things I’ve been through, dying is just one more page in a long bad book.” But spending his last living days, taking his last living breath, behind steel bars does. That’s the second problem: Inmate #78903 in the notorious level-four Washington State prison known as Horseneck Bay.
Then there’s the money. Two million dollars of stolen military payroll, supposedly buried in some remote and mysterious south-Texas mountain range called Los Despoblados, or The Uninhabited, which sounds to Oreny like one of those places his mama Maybell always told him to avoid. But he’ll worry about that later. He has to get there first.
Problem number three. That’s when he brings those two smoldering dynamite sticks he’s attached himself to — his Luke-boy and Jaime — on board to help his tired old body break out of Horseneck and go dig up that money and then hightail it across the border into Mexico. And when they do break out, and Luke decides to bring his girlfriend Lauren along, and her enraged ex comes after them, and then the manhunt starts multiplying faster around them than those cancer cells inside him, Oreny still thinks he can control them. The problems, that is. At least, until Cade arrives. Cade, the prison investigator Oreny knows is dangerous and unpredictable as a six-foot-two wolverine on eight gallons of adrenalin gone bad. And who won’t stop until he catches them and does to them what Cade does best. Cade, Oreny knows better than anything else, is their biggest problem of all.

Love dragons and magic. This spellbinding Young Adult fantasy series will plunge you into a world where fantasy and reality collide. One is Come is the first installment in a YA fantasy saga full of hidden plot twists and turns.
The centuries-old prophesy of the One is being fulfilled, and the ancient dragon clans are coming out of hiding to remake the world. The king of the magic users will stop at nothing to be sure the prophecy is fulfilled the right way–with his oppressive government ruling. As they struggle for power, Haylwen (14) and her brother Cadarn (16) just happen to be caught dead center. How can you save the world when you don’t know it needs saving? In this first book, meet fourteen-year-old Haylwen Rightad. She doesn’t think “crazy” runs in her family, but she might be wrong. Fish seem to listen when she talks. She finds herself wearing jewelry she can’t remember putting on. And then there was the explosion at school… and her ex-principal trying to kidnap her… and her brother? Don’t even ask. All she wants is to be an ordinary teenager. Live a normal life. Go to school, make friends, and not have to move a zillion times. Oh, and getting the bullies off her back? That’d be nice, too.
What Haylwen doesn’t know is WHY all this crazy stuff is happening to her. But she’s about to find out. The bad news? Things aren’t going to be “normal” any time soon! With a mysterious prophecy, magical secrets and more than a few dragons, ONE IS COME is the first book in the adventures of siblings Haylwen and Cadarn as they come to discover they have powers they never dreamt of — and a destiny only they can fulfill. It’s not easy to be “normal” when nothing is at it seems, and no one is who they appear to be.
