I feel tricked and cheated…AGAIN! Is this what the cool kids are doing now? Writing stories where there is no happy ending? I understand this is the trend now with horror movies, with the good guys dying in the end, but Romances? Give me a break! Last night, to clear my head of all the Halloween darkness and ghoulishness, I decided to watch a romance movie. Nice and sappy with people kissing in the rain and everything. It was the perfect way to end the weekend. Then BOOM! Main romantic interest dies in the end. WAIT…WHAT?? NO! Oh you got me again! You know Hallmark Channel would never do that to me. I see books with the HEA guarantee, I think movies should have them to. I can’t be wasting my time with such nonsense. Oh I am so mad. Fine. I am just going to rewrite it in my head. Guy doesn’t die, guy still saves the boy, and returns to the woman and they live happily ever after. That’s how it’s done.

Life sails along smoothly on beautiful St. Thomas for Abby Melrose Bellavance, or so she thinks. That is, until her husband Remy steals her trust fund and disappears for parts unknown. Now, with five million reasons to write off men for good, she returns to Charleston, broke and groveling at her mother’s feet. Living again in the opulent mansion on South Battery, Abby is thrown another curve ball. Her mother passes away, leaving Abby with an enormous home but no money to support it. Turning the mansion into a boardinghouse has its advantage — immediate cash — and disadvantage — two of the hottest men in Charleston are now Abby’s tenants. Abby wants love again, especially with hunky Erik, the handyman, and sexy Brandon, the prominent attorney, living in the mansion with her. They are so different, yet they’re similar in one way she needs to avoid — they are men, and she should keep her distance. As the southern summer blazes on, Abby’s life becomes even more complicated. Personal secrets are revealed, and fate deals her one final blow. She wonders if she will ever be given a second chance at falling in love.

Anupy Singla
(180 Reviews)
Genre: Cookbooks, Food & Wine
FREE for a limited time
This beautiful follow-up to Anupy Singla’s widely praised first cookbook, the Indian Slow Cooker, is a unique guide to preparing favorite recipes from the Indian tradition using entirely vegan ingredients. Featuring more than 50 recipes, and illustrated with color photography throughout, these great recipes are all prepared in healthful versions that use vegan alternatives to rich cream, butter, and meat. The result is a terrific addition to the culinary resources of any cook interested in either vegan or Indian cuisine. Singla–a mother of two, Indian emigre, and former TV news journalist–has a distinctive style and voice that brings alive her passion for easy, authentic Indian food. Some of these recipes were developed by her mother through the years, but many Singla developed herself, including fusion recipes that pull together diverse traditions from across the Indian subcontinent. She shows the busy, harried family that cooking healthy is simple and that cooking Indian is just a matter of understanding a few key spices. As Singla sees it, acquiring and using the proper spices is the key to preparing her healthful recipes at home. Singla has recently brought to market her own line of traditional Indian spice trays (also known as a masala dabba), which is being sold by retail outlets like Williams-Sonoma. Vegan Indian Cooking builds off of Singla’s vast expertise in simplifying and perfecting Indian spices and unique, custom spice blends, making delicious Indian cooking accessible to even the most hurried home chef.
