Lets just go ahead an address the elephant in the room shall we? Oh wait…I mean the Pokemon in the room. Hold on while I just catch this little guy really fast….GOT HIM!! I am sure by now most of you have seen more people than usual standing around outside with their phones glowing in their faces. They are standing in the middle of fields, rivers, and neighborhoods, searching. These people aren’t crazy and they are not under alien mind control.. exactly. Kinda, but no. They are playing a game called Pokemon Go. A free game that involves you walking around outside catching strange, but quite cute aliens that you can later battle against other cute little aliens. The game has been out for less than a week and there are literally millions of people playing it. I had to try it last night. The curiosity was killing me. Hubby and I grabbed our baby bassets and we were out the door, walking for miles, and meeting a lot of fun really nice people. Together as a family we walked, caught Pokemon, laughed, talked, and enjoyed eachothers company. This just might be the game that gets us off our couches and exercising again. I met one person yesterday that accidentally walked ten miles. Now that is magic!

Rehabilitation (Book 1 of the Unbelief Series) “My name is Sinna Reardon. I suppose deep down I’d like to believe God exists. But he doesn’t, not since the war. Most days I’m OK with that. Jacob calls me a pessimist, but I’m prefer realist. How can I Believe when a place like Rehabilitation and a regime like the Elite exist, dictating our every move? If God were so great, he’d do something. But he hasn’t. We’re forgotten. And that scares me, because it means I might have to do something myself… ” Sinna has spent her life walking a fine line between breaking the rules and obeying them to a fault. In a Godless world where science and logic reign supreme and people are punished for Believing, are friendship and love reasons enough to abandon unbelief? Enough to put her faith in something bigger than herself? Ruin (Unbelief II) Revelation (Unbelief III) God Wars: The Beginnings (An Unbelief Prequel)
Desperation (Book 1 of The Island Series) “My skin does a little crawling thing at the way he says my name, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why. He seems nice enough. He’s very polite and charismatic. Quite charming actually, to others at any rate. But just the way he says my name sends a warning tingle along my spine, and I can’t get rid of it.” Reagan Rykehart has been sentenced to a stint on Grandy Island, a reintegration camp for at-risk youth. Problem is, she was sentenced there not because of her own deeds, but for trying to help a friend. Guess that’s what she gets for trying. Sailing away to meet her fate, she finds fate has other plans. Mostly because Reagan is stubborn and a little crazy. At least that’s what people usually call folks who jump off ships. In the middle of the ocean. In the dark. Yep, definitely crazy. But will her new fate be even more grim than Grandy Island? Escalation (The Island II) Deliverance (The Island III)
Awakening (Book 1 in the Absence of Song Series) “Though music is forbidden and could get me in big trouble with the Ministry, I nevertheless often find myself singing softly in spite of the danger. Little do I know just how much hot water my strange compulsion to sing will actually land me in. What is happening in the world around me? How is it happening? How does the stranger Noah fit into things? And most importantly… why me? I’m no more special than the next person. So many questions, and so many dangers. All I can do is trust that whatever is happening, it is good. I can see that it’s good, and I refuse to let anyone convince me otherwise.” Becoming (Absence of Song II) Chosen (Absence of Song III) All books in each series should be read in order.

Peter Beckenham – whipsmart, gun-shy, and the News Editor of NPL, the world’s largest internet company – has had enough. When an unfortunate Twitter update costs him his job after fourteen years of deskbound, newswire publishing, he uses it as a chance to pursue what he sees as a less mundane existence. Despite a burgeoning office relationship and with exactly no experience of war reporting, he sets himself up as a foreign correspondent in Afghanistan, but soon finds his life has taken on more significance than he would have hoped.
In his debut novel Water Runs Slow Through Flat Land, Cliff Jones tells a fast-paced story about love, terrorism, friendship, humanity and deadlines in a comedy drama set in the digital media industry during the war on terror. Drawing on real-world events over the summer of 2010, what begins as one man’s ambition to make his mark on the world of journalism quickly becomes a struggle for survival in the long shadow of dark forces.

Lucy Lipiner
(392 Reviews)
Genre: Biographies & Memoirs | History
FREE for a limited time
The summer of 1939 turned out to be the last summer of author Lucy Lipiner’s childhood. On September 1, when she was six years old, her parents roused her and her older sister from their beds and, with other relatives in tow, left their town of Sucha, home to 780 Jewish people. It was a decision carefully planned and carried out by the author’s father which resulted in saving the lives of fifteen people. But the journey of survival was not an easy one, and in Long Journey Home A Young Girl’s Memoir of Surviving the Holocaust, from the perspective of that little girl, Lipiner narrates her family’s story. She tells of an odyssey of escape and rescue full of hardships and tribulation. From her sheltered life in a picturesque small town at the foothills of the Tatra Mountains to her time as a barefoot and hungry little girl in Siberia and Tajikistan in central Asia, and finally her arrival in America, this memoir shares the emotional details and the physical struggles of a ten-year flight to freedom. A story of resilience, Long Journey Home A Young Girl’s Memoir of Surviving the Holocaust provides a detailed, historical account of a little-known and rarely discussed group of Holocaust survivors.
