I am pretty much the most awesome person in the world. I have achieved this status on accident, but I sure as heck am gonna take it. I have managed to make a child who likes to vacuum. I was cleaning the house last night (because it’s Friday night and I know how to party), and my oldest asked if he could vacuum. At first I just stared at him because I actually couldn’t figure out the words that were coming out of his mouth, but after a while I began to understand. I gave him the vacuum and he went to work. At first I thought maybe he was just going to chase the cat with it, but nope, he went from room to room picking stuff off the floor and switching the machine from hardwood floor mode to carpet mode. WHAT THE BIBBITYBOO? So last night I was done with my chores in half the time. I did something right, and it is amazing.

What little parenting Jack received, came from nannies, assorted daycare, and most recently — military school. So he isn’t surprised when his absentee parents send him to live with a grandmother he’s only met three times. Jack’s bags are barely unpacked before she confines him to the property surrounding her spooky rooming house. Most of the rooms are vacant, but Jack is far from alone in Glastonbury Manor. His Gran isn’t a kindly old lady who bakes cookies or knits socks, and her freakishly strong housekeeper never says a word. Jack’s fellow boarder is an ex-soldier with a remarkable number of scars, and then there’s Ivy — a surly girl with a mysterious past. If the new people in Jack’s life seem a bit off, maybe, not quite normal… it’s because none of them are. Jack’s parents never answered any of his questions, and he determines to spend the last summer before high school solving the mysteries of Glastonbury Manor. Unfortunately, his grandmother has her own ideas about how Jack should spend his time.
Ivy’s Tangle is the first book in the Legend of the White Sword series. Readers of all ages, who enjoyed visiting Middle Earth, Hogwarts, or Narnia, will want to join Jack on this epic fantasy adventure.
