I planted the pumpkins on Saturday and I still do not see any sprouts. Yes, I checked the next day and the day after. The seed packet said it takes about seven days to germinate, but I have always felt the soil in my yard was advanced, so I expected a sprout by now.
The List – A Thriller (The Konrath/Kilborn Collective)
by J.A. Konrath, Jack Kilborn
(913 Reviews)
Genre: Thrillers | Mystery
FREE for a limited time
A billionaire Senator with money to burn… A thirty year old science experiment, about to be revealed… Seven people, marked for death, not for what they know, but for what they are…
History is about to repeat itself
THE LIST is a bit of a departure for Konrath, who is known for his Jack Daniels mystery series. It’s a technothriller about a group of ten people who each have tattoos of numbers on the bottoms their feet, and don’t know why.
One of them, a Chicago Homicide cop named Tom Mankowski, has had one of these strange tattoos since birth. When he investigates a violent murder and discovers the victim also has a tattooed number, it sets the ball rolling for an adventure of historic proportions.
To say more would give away too much.
Like the Jack Daniels series, THE LIST combines laugh out loud humor with serious suspense and thrills.

Lexy was a promising musician forced to let go of her dreams, find a job, and survive on her own. Now, she is just hoping to survive the love triangle she stumbled into with two brothers… Simon and Max Hyatt.
Simon was Lexy’s world. He had tapped into her very soul, kept her secrets, and loved her deeply. After pledging his love and promising to marry her, his parents died in a horrific accident and Simon had disappeared. And now he’s back, but even in the vaguely familiar, they’ve become strangers.
Max, Simon’s charming and well-meaning older brother, decides to play cupid. He just wants his brother to find the happiness he deserves. Big Mistake. As Max spends more time with Lexy, they get closer. She helps him through his demons and breaks down his walls. But the harder Max pushes Lexy onto Simon, where he believes she belongs, the stronger their own chemistry builds against the boundaries Max has reluctantly set.
But Lexy is no one’s fool. She knows exactly what she wants in life, and it doesn’t include a love triangle between brothers, only Lexy can’t deny everything wonderful she had with Simon, and she also can’t ignore everything she’s creating with Max. And then comes the announcement that Max is to be deployed, setting off a series of life-changing events. Time is running out. Lexy’s heart has reluctantly chosen one, but she could never tread on the bonds of brotherhood. At least not intentionally.

Genre: Science Fiction | Teen & Young Adult | Religious & Inspirational Fiction
FREE for a limited time
Sam wouldn’t say he was brainwashed.
True, he was raised by the aliens that control Earth, but they didn’t beat him or experiment on him. No species as reasonable as the Spo needed to brainwash anyone.
They even warned him going back to serve on Earth as an alien protégé would require humility and readjustment. But he still didn’t expect to be universally pitied and despised. Even his long-lost sister rejects him.
Sam hasn’t forgotten how his people suffered when the aliens came, but how can he prove it?
His alien mentor is like a father to him. The other cadets are closer than siblings. Can he stand the cost of losing another family?
Particularly when no one on Earth wants him. Except perhaps dead.
From the ships of the Spo to the streets of Los Angeles, Sam must find a way to reconcile two very different peoples – and maybe save the Earth while he’s at it.

Retired businessman Worthy McGuire knows he cannot put it off any longer. Time is not on the side of the gruff World War II veteran racing to fulfill a promise he made amid the horrors of the D-Day invasion in Normandy. As he plans a pilgrimage from Michigan to the site of both his best and worst day, Worthy now must rely on those he trusts the least — his family.
With no one else to help him meet the physical demands of the trip, Worthy grudgingly includes his grandchildren, David and Shannon, who are each battling their own insecurities. His controlling son, Ted, and his manipulative daughter-in-law, Angela, follow Worthy and his grandkids to France, and they have one goal: to drag the aging war vet back to Michigan where they hope to take command of his finances and place him in a nursing home. As Worthy searches for a family from his past, only time will tell if he can patch the crumbling relationships with his family before it is too late.
In this historical tale, a World War II veteran takes a journey of honor and courage as he sets off to complete the most important mission of his long life.
