All it takes is one night of camping for me to come back looking like a gremlin. You can imagine what three nights of camping on the beach will do to my looks. Knowing I would be camping, I did the date night beauty routine. I looked great head to toe with beautiful nails and hair. My skin had a lovely glow. Upon my return was a site fit for Halloween. My sunburned lips, that were puffy and very painful, stuck out past my chin in a horrid fashion, while my hair did things even medusa herself would be both impressed and disgusted with. The lovely racoon tan I got from wearing sunglasses the whole time make my eyes pop out in the most ridiculous way. Everyone else in the group looks completely normal. I’m going to hide in my house for a few days and wait for my trollish features to subside.

A Reason to Run (The Camdyn Series Book 1)

All she wanted was to write a great love story — she had no idea she’d be writing her own.

Words rarely failed Camdyn Taylor. When life handed her complications, she buried herself in capturing them on paper and crafting a perfect narrative. The fact that her latest novel was currently sitting at the top of the bestseller lists let her know she had succeeded — not that anyone else noticed, since she hid behind a pen name.

It had been tempting to step away from the anonymity at times, but not on days like that one. Not when the humiliating video of Peter proposing was going viral and her name was spreading through peoples’ homes like wildfire. Her inclination to run felt justified, especially when she cloaked it with novel research. The change of scenery should offer the perfect quiet backdrop to finish the manuscript on time.

Of course, she hadn’t factored in an unintended clash with local bachelor Cole Parker. His charming smile and witty demeanor leave her intrigued, even though circumstances seem determined to keep him at arm’s length. Despite distractions, can the two of them find a common bond to tie everything together and construct the perfect story?

Dwayne Massengill is stuck. He’s a standup comic stuck on the C-list. He’s stuck with a persona, the Redneck Casanova, that he’s learned to hate. And he’s stuck on the road, shuttling from one show after another and drinking himself into oblivion. So when he takes an unscheduled Fourth of July break to hole up in his hometown of Blanket, North Carolina, everyone assumes he just needs to recharge. But Dwayne has more on his mind than R&R: specifically Linda, the love of his life. While he’s in Blanket, Dwayne has to reevaluate his career, confront his troubled white trash upbringing, and figure out how to win Linda back. And dirty redneck jokes sure ain’t gonna do it.

Stubborn Pines looks at the contemporary South through the voices of a wide cast of closely-drawn characters and a plethora of outcasts, ne-er-do-wells, and small-town raconteurs. Full of raunchy comedy, startling emotion, and keen social commentary, above all, Stubborn Pines is a novel about storytellers, storylovers, and the stories they live for.
