I have spent more time, and put more thought into decorating my sweet chickens yard, than I have in dressing myself. My chickens are a lot more interesting and they really appreciate the new stuff to explore in their ever changing yard. If I could wear a plant or log, I would be pretty spiffily (that’s a word) dressed. Since life and fashion don’t work that way, I will have to forget about a nature made dress. The odd thing is, I don’t plan on getting anymore chickens. I love how my flock gets along with each other so wonderfully and I want to make Jackie and Summer’s retirement years as easy as possible. Neither of them lay eggs anymore, so I count that as retired. I could also be because I am mourning Heather still, so getting new chicks doesn’t seem right at this time.

LEAVING PIMLICO
by PB North
(307 Reviews)
Genre: Suspense | Romance
FREE for a limited time
‘What is it Peter?’ she said, after a while.
‘I can never get used to this, Alexi. Having you, that is. How did I deserve you?’
‘Deserve me? You don’t have to do anything to deserve me. I love you. It’s as simple as that. I love you for what you are. All you need to do is love me back. You don’t earn love, as a payment in return.’
Peter Kingsmill’s life had run into the sands since the death of his wife. What was a glittering London career had lost its shine. Until, that is, his life is turned upside down by an unexpected collision of events. He inherits the family estate, meets a girl seventeen years his junior and receives an anonymous letter which casts doubt on all the certainties on which he has built his past life.
What follows is a journey of discovery which takes him back in time to war-torn Europe. To a story of betrayal in the secret world of spies and double agents, and ultimately to redemption and a bright new life.
The narrative moves at speed from the dusty plains of pre-war Poland to the frozen winter landscapes of German-occupied Norway and finally to the gentle pastoral of the north Yorkshire hills. It is a story of a search for the pieces that make up a human life; and of the love that binds those pieces together.
‘… Do you remember the Snow Queen story? I can complete the pattern now. I have everything I need.’

Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy
FREE for a limited time
153 years in the future, Earth doesn’t look much like it used to.
Holly Danger’s current assignment, gleaned from a set of foggy instructions and a handful of coin stuffed into a slot, is to pick up a street kid who’s about to terminate himself off a cliff. And, as a rule, she doesn’t turn down currency. Her job as a salvager keeps her fed and clothed above the norm, which isn’t saying much.
The norm in this city is a scrape-by existence in a post-apocalyptic world, where the rain never stops, food is always scarce, and the elite have deserted the ranks in search of something better. Picking up this urchin won’t take much time, even if he’s located outside city limits. Her craft is fast, her weapons deadly, and her tech has been optimized as well as it can be for a climate clogged with iron dust.
But things take a big turn when she decides to become the boy’s guardian instead of hand him over. Outskirts have descended on the city, and their plans don’t include playing nice. When her crew is backed against a graphene wall, it’s a good thing her Gem is primed and ready to go. It’s almost as deadly as she is…
