I finally figured out how to keep all my sweet chickies in their coop and now I have no motivation to plant all the flowers I have been dying to plant for so long. I repeatedly go out to the backyard looking for inspiration, but it’s just too cold. I know I am a soft and weak California girl and 45 degrees is not actually that cold, but to me it is. Even when it warmed up to the 50’s I was still unmotivated. With Easter right around the corner I really have to get going on cleaning up the backyard. Even when it was warm enough I wasn’t all that motivated. Today I am going to force myself to the garden section of the hardware store and pick at least two things out. One splash of color at a time. Hopefully that will get me out of my funk. A little sunshine would help to.

Maverick ducked through the doorway and found her at the back door, shrugging into a coat. Right over her fancy party dress. She looked like a little kid playing dress up. He blinked, and it was a woman who looked back at him with soft eyes. Cash was gonna kill him if he didn’t un-screw this up.

When an absurdly well-paying job comes up, Taro is quick to volunteer. Mathan wants him to break a powerful sorceress out of her magical prison, but her cell is under the control of an ancient military order called the Magisterium. To get to her, Taro must pose as a Magisterium recruit.
In the Magisterium, the courses are grueling, the tests drive students mad, and the magic they teach can be as deadly to the caster as it is to the target.

Notes from the Firehouse: Seventeen Firefighting Stories from a Retired Firefighter
by D.E. McCourt
(156 Reviews)
Genre: Biographies & Memoirs | Nonfiction
FREE for a limited time
A memoir from a retired firefighter about firefighting, rescue calls and life around the firehouse.
It’s not all about fire – that’s lesson number one.
No,it’s a collection of things: assisting an injured person at three o’clock in the morning, calming a child in a traumatic situation, saving the belongings of a family from the ravages of a fire, seeing people in every heartbreaking situation imaginable and trying to help them, while not losing yourself in the process.
And it’s about the insanity found in the firehouse – to the author it’s the Cracker Factory – and the politics and pettiness that try unsuccessfully to steal the joy from the job. The book doesn’t dwell on the nuts and bolts of firefighting, as much as it documents the human side of the job.
