The turkey, that hangout around city hall, must have gotten word that the chickens that hang out at the Walgreens get fed pretty darn well. One of the gourmet chicken feed stores in town stops by and gives them some of their best mixes on a weekly basis. Yup, we have a gourmet chicken feed store. This is Sonoma County…it’s what we do. So yesterday I pulled into the parking lot and there they were, the turkeys that had been missing. It was a great relief to see that they were all okay, but a bit inconvenient since there were two large ones in the parking space I wanted. It was raining and I really wanted the closest open spot to the door. I started to pull in slowly, but after a tense standoff it was clear they were not moving. They knew I wanted that space. I could tell by the look in their eyes. I never realized just how big turkey are. Even in my car they were intimidating. I moved on and parked at the far end of the lot. As I walked from my car to the front door in the pouring rain, I could feel their eyes on me. It was clear who was boss now at the Walgreens.

The Northmen sacked the monastery at dawn.
They burned the village and slaughtered all who stood in their path. The relics of Saint Philbert were lost, and the island was abandoned by those who once dwelled there.
Years later, the monk Abriel – survivor of the same attack as a young boy – is sent to recover the relics and help restore the reputation and legitimacy of Saint Philbert.
What he discovers on his journey changes his life forever: the Northmen had colonized the island in the absence of the monks. They hold the key to finding the relics, but there are greater plans for Abriel.

Tales from the Hilltop: a summer in the other South of France
by Tony Lewis
(75 Reviews)
Genre: Travel

Much more than a travel memoir…
it’s an invitation to go and see for yourself.
Whether roaming through forests of forbidden fruits or wandering in swaying fields of sunflowers, it’s time to head off to the next mediaeval marvel and the next four-course feast. Pedalling along curvaceous country lanes or freewheeling through valleys and vineyards – earning your supper in this sleepy corner of France is nothing short of a privilege.
Tony and Ludmilla have landed a job with a specialist cycling and walking holiday company in the South of France… but that’s not something we can hold against them for too long!
They head off to the mediaeval marvel of Cordes-sur-Ciel in the Tarn – a region so achingly beautiful and laden with history and mystery they have to pinch themselves to be sure such a place really does exist.
When their cyclists turn up for a week’s pedal-powered adventure they will need a reliable back-up service when they puncture a tyre or come face to jowl with a ‘devil dog’ intent on devouring their panniers. And when their walkers take the wrong trail and find themselves humming Bonnie Tyler’s ’70s hit ‘Lost in France’, they too will need a timely rescue. Well, that’s the theory…
