I was fully expecting to wake up to snow on the ground this morning. I was a bit disappointed when I looked outside and saw nothing but rain. Yesterday the weatherman said 50% chance of snow. We haven’t had snow here for maybe 15 years, so I was fully prepared to stay home and have a snow day. I am certain that if one snowflake hits the ground here it would be declared a day for everyone to stay home and be safe. Yes, I understand there are parts of the country that are covered in 50 feet of snow, but you guys know how to get around in snow. It’s a normal, everyday part of your lives. For us, if the snow isn’t in the designated snow areas, we seem to freak out a bit. It was only a very cold rain yesterday and I saw two car accidents within a mile of each other. I was about to call it quits, and get my family inside until Spring. I am weak, I know.

Jared Connor lost his innocence at the age of ten when his father poured gasoline around the family home and left his two young sons to die in the flames. Now an adult, he’s carefully crafted a pretend life where he can hide his scars and his death row father behind the disguise of a caretaker’s pickup truck and a pair of gardening shears. But when a beautiful woman with scars of her own barges into his quiet, solitary life, Jared finds it increasingly difficult to hide from what he really wants.
A successful young businesswoman ill at ease in her newfound beauty…
Phlox Miller was never the pretty girl and no magic mascara or secret serum was ever going to change that — not even one manufactured by her own company. When an accident at her country home burns her face and body, she spares no expense on her recovery and plastic surgery. Now she turns heads on the street, but can’t recognize herself in the mirror — and can’t convince the man she loves that he’s beautiful, too.

Wolves of the Northern Rift (A Magic & Machinery Novel Book 1)
by Jon Messenger

Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy | Science Fiction | Action & Adventure

In a world of science, magic is an abomination.
Magic is an abomination. It spread from the Rift, a great chasm hundreds of miles long that nearly split the southern continent in two. The Rift was a portal, a gateway between their world of science and the mythological world of magic.
On the northern continent of Ocker, King Godwin declared that no magical monstrosity would be allowed within their borders. The Royal Inquisitors were formed to investigate reports of mystical occurrences and, should they be found, to destroy them.
Inquisitor Simon Whitlock knows his responsibilities all too well. Along with the apothecary, Luthor Strong, they’ve spent two years inquiring into such reports of magical abominations, though they’ve discovered far more charlatans than true magical creatures. When assigned to investigate Haversham and its reports of werewolves, Simon remains unconvinced that the rumors are true. What he discovers in the frozen little hamlet is that the werewolves are far more real than he believed; yet they’re hardly the most dangerous monster in the city.

A chilling look at what lurks in the dark corners of an eleven-year-old boy’s twisted heart…
Michael Romanov is genius-bright. Cute. Self-reliant. Inventive. Ridiculous to think he’s a killer. A killer without remorse. Or regret. Or guilt. Impossible to believe he’s a psychopath.
His mother would rather kiss a cobra than touch him, but he never complains about her calculated insults and contempt. Never whines about his older brother’s relentless bullying. Never moans about his father’s overt collusion and neglect.
Pushed too far, Michael retaliates. He pulls off his brother’s murder without a hitch. Requiring more excitement, he orchestrates his mother’s descent into hell with the same cool detachment. Success is giddy.
What’s next?
Keeping his mother in his crosshairs sounds like fun…
