I have been obsessed with acquiring a Monstera Albo. I absolutely love the large leaves with the beautiful variegation of green and white. I do not however want to pay $500 for a plant that I am sure to kill. I see plenty of people selling just one leaf for as low as $60. But it’s a leaf for $60. Soooo yaaaa… no. I have been doing pretty good keeping the common Monsteras I have alive. So that’s something there. I was able to buy three baby Monstera Albos for $45, plus the seller through in a few extra cuttings with teenie tiny leaves for free. Unfortunately non of the plants are looking like they will have any real variegation. So why am I telling you all about this now? Well… I found another plant I REALLY REALLY want. The Medinilla magnifica. Do I have the space for another obsession? No. I don’t. Is that going to stop me? Oh please… I really wish it would.

Trauma Bonds: a novel of suspense

Genre: LGBTQ+ eBooks | Horror

Lizbeth Shannon must escape Skid Row and stall her descent into madness.
But not before severing the trauma bonds shackling her to an early grave.
In the fall of 2005, devils chased Liz Shannon across nightmarish acres and deep into the bowels of hell. Not actual devils, only personal demons. And hell meant the seediest underbelly of L.A., where she walked among clever predators and outright ghouls. Discarded and homeless after her girlfriend, Dell — a hospice nurse — finally grew a spine and tossed the “energy vampire” out the door and smack into the jaws of the street wolves.
But Lizbeth isn’t really a vampire. Forget the pale skin, sharp bite, and a life spent roaming through the gloaming hours. Depraved conditions fell upon her early, as they do to many who end up deformed by circumstance.
And yet, an inexplicable bond remains between the two women — an otherworldly connection — a cord that cannot be severed, no matter the fraying threads. Still, Dell can’t root through the ugly places or prevent her love from hitting bottom.
Only Liz can battle the fiends and avoid the abyss.
First, she must dig her inner child from the ruins. But the weight of history hovers, like the sword of Damocles, eager to generate more debris — and crush them both to smithereens.
***This book, previously published as Dig Up Through Within, deals with mature themes of trauma and abuse.

Audrey Wells loved her life. From the time she was a kid watching Gilmore Girls, she’d dreamed of living in a small town and owning her own business. And she made her dreams come true. Eight years ago she moved to Hope Falls, a quintessential small town, where she opened a coffee shop with her sisters.
She loved her business. She loved her community. And she loved her best friend. Scratch that, she was in love with her best friend. For years she’d kept her feelings (and virginal status) to herself. But one accidental confession while Dining in the Dark could change everything. Or at least, she hoped it would.
Josh Bianchi survived his life. It’s what he’d done from the time he was a kid. He survived growing up with an absent mother and an alcoholic father. He survived seven years in the Army and a career-ending blast from an IED. He survived each day with back pain and each night with night terrors.
The one bright spot in his life was his best friend. Her smile was a lighthouse in his sea of darkness. His feelings for her were more than love, more than attraction, more than anyone could ever understand. She saved him when no one knew he needed saving. She was a walking, breathing angel. His angel. He would never do anything to jeopardize his relationship with her. Or at least he thought he wouldn’t. One intimate confession made in the dark tempted him to cross the line and risk it all.

The Pentagon, Washington. A worldwide crisis that only one man can solve…
“He had just killed a man. His stomach tightened in a knot. His heart burned. He wasn’t so sure it was something to be proud of… But he could have just as easily been the pilot in the burning wreckage.”
Meet Jack Locke — a gifted fighter pilot. He’s hard to manage and harder to kill. Can he follow orders long enough to stop World War III?
Fate puts him at the centre of a crisis that could plunge the world into all-out war. The USAF’s 45th Tactical Fighter Wing shoots down a Libyan MiG jet that is threatening the safe passage of a UN food relief flight, increasing instability in North Africa and the Middle East.
Kicked out of North Africa, the 45th relocate to England. Colonel Anthony Waters is sent there to whip a band of rogues and mavericks into a disciplined fighting force. Because their country could ask them at any time to fly their F-4s into the eye of the firestorm, to face an overwhelming enemy and brave the flames of hell itself without question and with no support.
Jack Locke knows his own talent and what the Air Force needs from him. Tomorrow that call will come. And there will be no turning back when the heavens explode.
Written by former USAF pilot, Richard Herman, who flew F-4s on active duty, The Warbirds is the first of his two books featuring fighter pilot Jack Locke. It’s a no-holds-barred close-up view of aerial warfare and the people and machines involved.
A great choice for fans of Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, Frederick Forsyth, Stephen Coonts, L.T. Ryan, W.E.B. Griffin, Dale Brown and Larry Bond.
Combining the hard world of power-politics with phenomenal air-war sequences and nail-biting tension, The Warbirds is the flying novel of the decade.
