The benefit of driving the extra 2 hours to La Pine Oregon (30 minutes past Bend) is that today we only have an hour and a half drive to Crater Lake. As I have said before, Hubby has been talking about how incredible Crater Lake is and how much he has wanted to go back. Up until now it was my fear of driving that kept us back. It wasn’t the only reason, but a pretty big one. Driving or riding in an RV is a lot less scary for me than pulling a trailer. It also helps that I have been taking magnesium daily for almost a year. It may be in my head, but I feel like my anxiety has gone way down. Last night we were looking at options for visiting Crater Lake. One was taking a boat ride, which sounded delightful. What did not sound delightful was the mile hike down a mountain that you need to do to get to the boat. The boat, by the way that is not covered. We would be in the sun the whole time. Not with this fair skin and green eyes. After the tour you would have to hike back up the steep hill. NOPPITY NOPE NOPE! The other option was a trolley tour. That sounded pretty good, but we want to take the pups with us, and even if dogs are allowed on the trolley, mine would not behave. Today it will be just us in our little car like we did in Yellowstone. I can’t wait!! You can see my updates and pictures by visiting my other blog Pollen Patch by clicking here!

Anyone can track down a priceless artefact that’s been lost for hundreds of years. Finding one that’s been hidden on a parallel Earth… now that’s a neat trick.

When Neith Salah – a quantum curator charged with traveling to our parallel Earth to rescue precious artefacts – is ordered to save a priceless Fabergé Egg, she figures it’s just another job. The only problem: she’s not sure what the egg looks like. Or where it is. Or when it is.

Enter Julius Strathclyde, a mild-mannered Cambridge professor whose closest brush with death-defying treasure hunts is finding lost coins down the back of the sofa. Not the usual “save the world” type, but when Julius’ best friend is murdered while searching for the egg, Neith realizes that this mild-mannered professor is the only person who can help her solve the riddles that will lead her to the egg.

She just has to keep him alive long enough to do it.

He’s got the fountain pens. She’s got the guns. They’ll just have to hope that’s enough to keep them ahead of the Russian Mafia, unknown assassins, and perhaps even other quantum curators who want the egg for their own dark purposes… and may not be picky about who they have to kill to get it.

The Willows
by Algernon Blackwood
4.2 Stars (1,828 Reviews)
Genre: Horror

FREE for a limited time

Classic horror from the prolific author of ghost stories and supernatural fiction, and thought by H. P. Lovecraft to be the best “weird tale” of all time.

“Algernon Blackwood’s novella The Willows uses setting like a master. This story is considered by Lovecraft and others to be one of the greatest horror short stories of all time… I can tell you it creeped me out more than I thought it would. It’s a simple tale: two men traveling the Danube by boat end up stopping at an island of willows to pass the night, and they begin to realize that they have trespassed upon a land that does not welcome them, and isn’t really a part of our own world. I went in knowing that it greatly influenced Lovecraft, and the parallels in ideas and style are readily apparent in the last half of the story… A beautifully written, enjoyably creepy novella.” — ChicagoNow
