One of my favorite things that happens in Spring is the return of the bumble bees. I love seeing those fat little VW Beetles float around the flowers, chasing each other away from their territories. That’s one thing I learned, they are very territorial. Any little bug that flies into their spot gets chased out immediately. They will even do all they can to chase me out. I will be hunched over weeding or planting a new plant, and I will feel little bumps to my back or even my head. BUZZ BUMP BUZZZZZ BUMP BUMP! Such angry little buzzes. Very cute. Just a fun thing I wanted to share with you.

**2015 Gold Digital Award winner from Independent Book Publishers of America**

This is one of the best books available about life for both expat residents and natives in villages and cities across Mexico. What sets it apart from most other books about living in Mexico is that it’s a literary collection of short stories and essays, full of insights by contemporary authors who write and live full time in Mexico or who have spent a lot of time living in the country. The superb collection contains twenty two works, all but five from authors who live full time in the country. Their writing spans a variety of topics; many contributions extol life in Mexico’s abundant sunlight while others examine what the shadows sometimes obscure. It’s a sampler of sorts, with active hyperlinks for more information about the authors and their other writing.

The Mutiny Girl (Gold and Courage Series Book 1)
by Karen S. Gordon
4.3 Stars (154 Reviews)

FREE for a limited time

A down on his luck lawyer facing financial ruin is presented with an illegal get rich scheme.

Working his way through law school as a cop during the Miami Vice era of lawlessness on the streets of Miami, Vance Courage kept his nose clean. But now he must reckon old ties to the most notorious drug cartel in U.S. history.

Today, when we imagine Miami, we think of a cosmopolitan city brimming with star-studded nightclubs, warm beaches, swanky hotels and international banking. But Miami wasn’t built on sand — it was built on white powder. Back in the 1970s and 80s from Tallahassee to Key West, the Cuban and Colombian cocaine cartels infiltrated every lever of power. Miami’s past is more terrifying and less known than the days when crime boss Al Capone used violence and intimidation to control the city of Chicago.

The Hotel Mutiny was the underground nerve center where an international entanglement of drug lords, DEA agents, Marielitos, FBI informants, arms dealers, CIA operatives, doctors, assassins, lawyers and anyone with a membership card rubbed shoulders. The kingpins, their lieutenants, wannabes just off the boat and those who hunted them indulged in female companionship, expensive champagne, cigars, exotic cars — and of course, blow.

Al Pacino stayed at the hotel and sat at a small table near the dance floor located on the Upper Deck where he studied for his upcoming role in Scarface. If you want to lift the hood and see what’s underneath the glitz and glamor of the Magic City, read THE MUTINY GIRL where you’ll meet Vance Courage and Lauren Gold. Inspired by a true story, they’ll teach you an American history lesson you’ll never forget. Buckle up.
