I stayed up way too late last night watching a new show, and oh no I am feeling it now. Having a few seasons of a show on demand is both a blessing and a curse. I can now watch a full season of a show in one sitting, and when the show ends in cliff hangers I HAVE to watch the full season. This particular show is three seasons in, so at least it won’t take me much to catch up. The problem there is I get spoiled and hate waiting a week for the next episode during the regular season. These days I don’t wake up with alcohol hangovers, but rather TV show hangovers. erg

What was it like to live through the most tumultuous period in recent European history? History comes alive!
What was it like to live through the most tumultuous period in recent European history? This book shows how an ordinary German family, the van Dornbachs, goes from prosperity to poverty as Hitler and the Nazi party come to dominate Germany. Beautiful young Grethe leaves for Amsterdam and Paris to live the Bohemian life. Brilliant young Siegfried seeks business success in Kentucky and Shanghai, but comes to a tragic end. Their parents and younger brother, left in Germany, do their best to try to survive the storm.
We experience life in the tobacco industry of Kentucky in the 1920s, see how the student radicals of Paris coped with the movements sweeping through Europe in those years, and how the political and economic events of the 1930s and 1940s devastated everyday life. The shadow that was cast over the whole of Europe affected each member of the Dornbach family in a different way.

After many years of working in standup comedy, followed by a small nervous breakdown, I decided to learn about cooking at the age of fifty. Along the way, I found a little bit of sanity.
If you’re a full-fledged foodie or a kitchen klutz, whether you love to cook or live for take-out — if you’re craving humor with a bite, this book is for you.
Join me on my stumbling culinary journey, as I bridge the gap between Top Ramen and Top Chef, from ‘The Piggly Wiggly Cookbook’ to ‘Modernist Cuisine.’
If you like gadgets, I’ll tell you about everything from quinoa sifters to guns that shoot beef jerky. You’ll also read about two of the most important things any good cook should have: a cast-iron skillet and a catchphrase.
You’ll meet a group of performers who make music with vegetables . . . a man who has made the best doughnuts in L.A. for the past fifty years . . . and a tattooed, fire-loving chef with a connection to Hunter S. Thompson.
Find out how the host of “The Splendid Table” feels about okra, and learn about cooking a fox from somebody’s mom. My own mom makes a surprise appearance, too, and I even throw in a couple of recipes for good measure. Dig in!
