There is an egg shortage! There are chickens everywhere and there is an egg shortage. I read an article that was talking about how the large factory egg farmer’s chickens were dying of an avian flu, but smaller backyard chickens were unaffected. The article went on to say this could be the beginning of the end of the large chicken farms with small cages and miserable living conditions, and egg prices could go up to over $6.00 a dozen. Hmm… looks like I might need a couple of extra little ladies after all.

But, when two women’s bodies are found under similar circumstances, it quickly turns into more than your average case. The killer is clearly looking to make a name for himself, and his plans for these women go far beyond death.
When the media runs with the story, the killer’s moment in the spotlight arrives.
It’s up to Lieutenant Kane to bring the man the press has dubbed the ‘Psycho Surgeon’ to justice. Yet, being the lead on the case has its drawbacks–like becoming the focus of the killer yourself.
As Lieutenant Kane closes in on his suspect, he soon realizes that the case has become far more personal than he could have ever imagined.

THE VERY LAST APPLE (OUR TOWN COLLECTION / Ages 6 to 10 – Rhyming Children Bedtime Short Stories)
Peter Collier
(18 Reviews)
Genre: Children’s eBooks
FREE for a limited time
This is one of the author’s personal favourites. It’s a kind of feel-good story about the people of a small town and their curiosity concerning the apple at the top of a tree. Children will request parents to re-read, over and over again, a story that has caught their imagination. If not in rhyme, these stories will quickly become dull and a burden to read. When written in free verse, a story is both a delight to read and to hear.
