No Doctor Oz, I will not take a spoonful of vinegar after each meal. I would rather be a little fluffy and enjoying my sugar spikes, than endure the torture of vinegar violating my mouth and throat leaving me with perma prune face. Plus the “Bla Bla Blag!” noises I was making after taking such a vile spoonful of ickiness, was staring to scare my children. I must also note that since I have started this practice I have taken exactly 5 spoonfuls of the terrible liquid. Most of the time I just forgot to do it. Blaa

The Last Analog Summer
Fred Limberg
(15 Reviews)
Genre: Teen & Young Adult | Coming of Age
FREE for a limited time
Welcome to Dodge, Iowa. Population: Frustrated. Why? Because it’s a digital dead-zone…a lonely analog island in an ocean of corn.
Old cars, record players, and some radios work okay—but there are no iPods, no internet, no video games or laptop computers, no cell phones, and some days…not much hope, it seems, for kids who’ve visited the big city.
The government insists an ancient magnetic meteorite is buried beneath the town. That’s what fries everything electronic. Uh-huh…right.
And, hey…pay no attention to the razor-fenced tower complex way out there in the corn, guarded by gun-toting camo-dudes. What secret compound? What power surges?
What a bunch of Bullthit!
Kevin, Tandy, and Deke, just graduated, are desperate to get out of Dodge. Trouble is, they’re flat broke and stuck in a bad ‘60’s movie. A mountain of debt looms, as well as a mountain of doubt.
Then Deke stumbles across ‘The Stratocaster’ at a farm auction. It’s old…way old…a pristine sunburst ’57 Strat. And it’s valuable…way valuable. They know immediately it’s their ticket out, a head-start on a real life…of having a chance.
The Last Analog Summer is a coming-of-age thriller—quirky, funny, tender at times, and full of worrisome twists. Kev, Tandy, and Deke desperately try to hang onto the old guitar. If it isn’t the town punk tricking them at the auction, it’s his misguided mom giving it to the radio preacher at WWJD, because, well… that’s what Jesus would do. And just when they have Reverend Diz on board— Ivy and Remy’s antics, which are antagonizing the camo-dudes to no end as they try to finally get some answers about the tower surges, go horribly wrong.

This (Novella) is a two pronged story line. On one hand it features the rise of a mob hit man.The second connected story is about a fence, a low level outsider of the mob. It tells the two stories alternating in the book as they relate, and the Gypsy hag who’s control drives the way it goes. Her hold on our characters is subtle, yet devious.

As the Vietnam War winds down, Jake Fonko’s mission has only just begun…
Meet Jake Fonko, America’s coolest covert agent. An ex-surfer and decorated Ranger working in Army Intelligence, Jake finds himself dispatched to Saigon during the final days of the Vietnam War, temporarily on loan to the CIA. Jake figures that he’ll ride a desk, relax in Saigon and collect a paycheck — business as usual.
But the CIA has other plans for Jake…
The agency mysteriously ships him off to Cambodia for a top-secret mission with instructions to make contact with an asset out of the loop. Upon arriving, however, he discovers that the CIA hasn’t made contact with the asset in two years, and the trail has gone cold — an almost impossible mission for Jake, a soldier with little experience in international espionage.
Why him?
But before he can find the answer, the Khmer Rouge take over Cambodia, and Jake finds himself fighting for his life in a foreign country that’s suddenly become very inhospitable for Americans. Stuck in unfriendly territory without hope of evacuation, Jake must rely on his ingenuity and wits if he hopes to keep breathing. Will he find out why the CIA sent him on this mission? Will his illegal espionage activities trigger an international crisis? Can he survive the killing fields and track down the target? And will he make it out of Cambodia alive to tell his tale? This is no Cold War, that’s for sure…
