My oldest son was telling my youngest that he was bigger so he can frog jump faster and higher. I thought about this for a second (I should have thought about it for about 10 minutes, but no) and announced that I am the biggest and I can jump faster and higher then both of them, and I did. Then quickly afterwards I died in my chair. Panting and in pain I realized my ego and body just played a nasty trick on me.

THE BRIDGE TO CARACAS is Volume one of THE KING TRILOGY, an epic story, spanning four tumultuous decades, of an inconvenient fortune and its catastrophic affect on a loving family.
Jim Servito shatters the hopes and aspirations of star-crossed lovers, Mike King and Karen Taylor, while simultaneously engineering a grand theft ranking as one of the largest and most audacious in Canadian and U.S. history. Cynical and remorselessly ruthless, he possesses a brilliant criminal mind, has enormous contempt for the law, police, governments, and the system in which they function. He assumes rules are for fools, and takes sadistic pleasure in breaking them. Using The Peace Bridge as his fulcrum, he steals $325,000,000 from the U.S. and Canadian governments, steals enormous quantities of gasoline by illegally installing valves in Golden National’s Buffalo refinery, then murders everyone who can implicate him.
The setting is storybook perfect. The beautiful daughter of wealthy parents meets the handsome son of middle class parents. The two fall in love and assume they will marry and live happily ever after. History would prove their assumption wrong. Cruel twists of fate and the wrath of Jim Servito combine to prescribe a horrible nightmare for the two lovers, one that grows in intensity and ultimately leads them to prison, then a life and death confrontation with Servito in Caracas.

Young Moon (Water Worlds)
H. S. St. Ours
(15 Reviews)
Genre: Coming of Age | Science Fiction | Teen & Young Adult
FREE for a limited time
Young Moon’s father was Chinese on his mother’s side, and he could go on and on talking about the miraculous accomplishments of the great Chinese people.
He said more than once that they were among the most blessed and privileged of nations. After all, they had dozens of astronauts — yuhangyuans — in orbit and on the Moon, and there was a small base on Mars, too, being built by robots. Even bigger stations — the ring cities — were planned.
Young Moon used to get uncomfortable and wished he would lower his voice. Their walls were thin in Wonsan and school taught her that this kind of talk was treason. Teacher said the Dear Leader would know if you didn’t pay proper respect to the glories of the Homeland, and he could get very cross with you if he found out. Every screen was two-way and you never knew if someone was watching.
All she wanted was to be left alone to talk to the visions in her drawings — visions that came to warn her of impending danger. But a chance word spoken by an angry classmate would force Young Moon’s family to flee North Korea for China, where she would witness her father set in motion a world-shaking disaster of epic proportions.

Georgene Harkness
(19 Reviews)
Genre: Travel
FREE for a limited time
People who have never cruised before often wonder what it is about taking a cruise vacation that attracts so many. There are as many reasons to cruise as there are passengers on a ship. But if you’ve never cruised before, while it all may sound interesting and attractive, it’s hard to know how to get started planning your first cruise.
This book takes you through the ins and outs of cruising, including why you would want to consider a cruise vacation, how to select the ship, the itinerary, the stateroom and the date, how to plan your pre-cruise arrival at port, why you would (or wouldn’t) want to use a travel agency, what to expect when you board and when you disembark, and many more questions that people who have never cruised before ask. It warns you of pitfalls like failing to buy travel insurance and buying excursions from scalpers on the pier, and lets you know what you can expect to be included in the fare, and what’s extra.
This book gives just the right amount of pertinent information to help the cruiser make good choices, without overwhelming him with minutia. Although it covers all the really important points, it leaves room for discovery as well!
The author took her first cruise at the age of ten, and she has spent most of her days since then plotting to spend more time aboard and less time ashore. Cruising is her favorite vacation, and she hopes to share her love of cruising – including good, solid information – with those who have not yet had the pleasure of taking their own very first cruise.
