One of the cutest things I see the baby chicks do is jump around like popcorn when I put them in the outside pen. When the weather is nice and the wind is not so crazy, I like to put the baby chicks outside on the back lawn in a little pen for some scratching and grass chomping time. The first thing they do, after they stop screaming at me for being so grabby, is pop and flap around enjoying to the full extent the wide open space. They look exactly like four little kernels popping around racing and chasing imaginary bugs. I wonder if the inventor of popcorn chicken got the idea from watching baby chicks… oh sad. But that stuff is tasty.

Scotland, 1479 – Cameron Malcolm Stewart, Earl of Lennox, had made his peace with destiny. It was not his fate to love as other men. Wed and widowed seven times, he had come to believe that sharing his name alone would consign a woman to an early grave. So, on the sunny spring day Cameron encounters a delightfully devious, bright-eyed lass selling charmed stones in one of Stirling’s alehouses, he tosses her a shilling, thinking only to steal a kiss. But it is a kiss that will change his life forever.
To care for her ailing father, the precocious Kate Ferguson has resorted to swindling the drunkards of Stirling. But a chance meeting with a handsome and seductively mysterious outlaw named Cameron ends with a kiss that changes the course of her destiny. The Journey in Between: Thru-Hiking Solo on the Camino to Santiago
Keith Foskett
(44 Reviews)
Genre: Travel | Sports & Outdoors | Biographies & Memoirs
FREE for a limited time
El Camino de Santiago, also known as The Way, is the fabled path that weaves through French and Spanish countryside for 1,000 miles to its hallowed destination at Santiago de Compostella. Thousands attempt to walk its entirety each year: some succeed, many fail. Keith Foskett thru-hiked the Camino to indulge his love for the outdoors and hiking but also, unintentionally, filled a void in his life which took him in a completely different direction. Along the way he made friends with fellow pilgrims from all over the world, all traveling for their own different reasons. He was assailed by new experiences and unexpected discoveries – from the pain of blisters and extremes of temperature to encountering kleptomaniacs, fake faith healers and being threatened with arrest in Spain for ‘not sleeping’. This is the story of one man’s walk, but it speaks to all who see life itself as a journey and are alive to the revelations that an escape to nature can bring. Written with insight, observation and a healthy dose of humour. As this book shows, it is rarely the start and the finish that count, but the journey in between.
