I have had an epi-pen for so many years now, I can’t even count, but I have never had to use it. It’s a good thing to. The other day my neighbor gave me the trainer pen out of her child’s prescription as a little joke for a friend of mine who has always told me he wants to be first in line to stab me with one if ever needed. He is very concerned about my health and safety, or he just wants to stab me. Either way he is there for me. So I take the trainer pen home and I immediately start playing around with it, jabbing the side of my leg trying to make it click. I cant get it to click. I jab harder and harder. Now it’s starting to hurt, and I am a little shocked it would take this much force. Soon my leg is a bit sore so I stop and put the pen down. My youngest basset immediately wants a turn with the new toy. He picks it up, reads ALL of the instructions, not just the one instruction in the middle of the pen that is in bold, and proceeds to use the pen correctly and gets it to click with one firm, yet much softer jab to my leg.. Hmm. All these years I never read all of the instructions, and my life was on the line. My child had the sense to read all of the instructions. Lesson learned…. give your child the instructions from now on.
