My sweet innocent youngest basset was sent to the principles office yesterday…Twice! Whoa!! Jimminy Crickets! Don’t they realize he is my perfect little baby? He never does anything wrong! PERFECT LITTLE LOVEY. Well, I guess he wasn’t that perfect if he was kicking at doors and disrupting the whole class because he was mad about something. Back in my day (yes, I just said that) if you got sent to the principles office you had committed a horrible crime. The walk to the office was scary and you knew you had messed up BAD! So I have heard, I was never caught…er.. I mean I never did anything wrong to get sent to the office. I am just going on what I had heard it was like. I got a little taste of it though yesterday when I went to pick up my babies at the end of school. Both the teacher and the principle found me and asked if we could talk. I got the horrible feeling I was in big trouble and got a little whoozy. I was so relieved when I realized it wasn’t me, but my baby basset. HA! Better you than me kid!

Maggie Kelly, writing as Cleo Dooley (she thinks O’s look good on a book cover), is the author of the best selling St. Just Mystery Series set in the English Regency Era. This should make her a happy woman, and it does, mostly. Professionally, she’s a hit. Personally? No, not so much. But never fear, a hero has come to rescue her from her dull, boring, and faintly neurotic existence. The only problem is that said hero is Alexandre Blake, Viscount St. Just, her fictional hero, in all his handsome, arrogant Regency-ness. He has popped out of her mind, out of her books, and has somehow landed in her New York apartment, along with his fictional sidekick, the adorable Sterling Balder. Try explaining that one to your friends! While juggling lies explaining her strange “houseguests,” Maggie also finds herself the prime suspect in the murder of her publisher and former lover (just because she fed him mushrooms and he died of mushroom poisoning that same night — really, there such a thing as coincidence, right?). But again, never fear, because her fictional hero is here, and he, amateur sleuth-master that he has been created to be, has promised to step in and save the day. Maggie’s pretty much hoping he’ll just learn to put the cap back on the toothpaste…

They are the light against the darkness. The steel against the necromancy of the Druj. And they use demons to hunt demons… Nazafareen lives for revenge. A girl of the isolated Four-Legs Clan, all she knows about the King’s elite Water Dogs is that they bind wicked creatures called daevas to protect the empire from the Undead. But when scouts arrive to recruit young people with the gift, she leaps at the chance to join their ranks. To hunt the monsters that killed her sister. Scarred by grief, she’s willing to pay any price, even if it requires linking with a daeva named Darius. Human in body, he’s possessed of a terrifying power, one that Nazafareen controls. But the golden cuffs that join them have an unwanted side effect. Each experiences the other’s emotions, and human and daeva start to grow dangerously close. As they pursue a deadly foe across the arid waste of the Great Salt Plain to the glittering capital of Persepolae, unearthing the secrets of Darius’s past along the way, Nazafareen is forced to question his slavery — and her own loyalty to the empire. (Scotland, 1478) – Ruan MacLeod was through with women. They were nothing but trouble. Leaving the rash life of his youth behind, he returned to Skye, seeking peace. He never meant to split the clan or start a war with the MacDonald of Duntulm. He certainly never foresaw an arranged marriage to the most scandalous woman in Scotland. Even though she was twice his age, the size of a horse and mother to more than one illegitimate child, he agreed to secure his sister’s freedom. However, even that plan goes drastically awry. On his wedding day, he finds himself faced instead with an enticing, green-eyed lass named Bree. A walking disaster, his bride immediately turns his world into chaos and threatens to melt his resolve never to love again. Betrayed by her own mother, Bree flees to Skye, thinking only to reunite with her long, lost father. Instead, she finds herself wed to Ruan MacLeod as a replacement bride. When she is forced to remain in the castle, she is soon caught between brothers and the mentally ill wife of the laird. Shy, yet strong, Bree embarks on a journey of independence and learns along the way that all men are not necessarily evil. In fact, one particularly brooding, yet gentle-hearted warrior is worthy of love, and she soon loses her heart forever.

They thought it was going to be a fun, interesting field trip during their last days as high school seniors. But what they didn’t count on was the bus crashing on a remote, deserted dirt road in the woods. And what they couldn’t possibly have anticipated were the hideous horrors that lurked in those woods… mutated once-human monsters with a hunger for fresh meat… And fresh souls…
Just days before their graduation, twelve high school seniors embark on a field trip to the bustling city of Chicago… but they never arrive. The bus ends up crashing on an old, deserted road in the bowels of a lush forest. Some students die in the crash. Others are injured. Few remain unscathed. How they managed to veer so far off the map is a mystery. And, calling for help proves useless, as nobody can receive a phone signal. Since little daylight remains, and a fierce storm’s brewing, they come to the conclusion that they must spend the night in this unfamiliar territory. Before dawn, however, everyone is awakened by a girl’s ferocious scream. It turns out to be the scream one of their own, who’s gone missing. They also find proof of what roams these woods — deformed humanoids with the brute power of wild animals. The only difference is, these savages are smart, cunning and purposeful. Their goal — to devour the brains of everyone from the Number 13 bus in order to lengthen life and accumulate powers. It’s up to Will Berilla, a confused but precocious teenager, to wage war against the evil that’s stalking them, save his friends, and find his way back home.
