I did the blanket over the head test on little Junebug last night. She didn’t do well. In fact she did pretty awful. I covered her lightly with a soft little blanket, and she squirmed and wiggled herself into a burrito. I untangled her and tried again. Each time she did worse than the last. I get the feeling this little sweetie can’t find her way out of a wet paper bag. She is pretty darn smart at everything else, but blankets seem to be her weakness. Either that or she just really likes being a tiny burrito.

Bitsie George has always dreamed of owning her own bakery, so when she finds herself suddenly single after 27 years of marriage she jumps at the chance of fulfilling her dream. The only drawback to her new life as a baker is the dead electrician in her kitchen. Was he the victim of a tragic on-the-job accident, or is there something much more sinister afoot? It’s up to Bitsie to find out with a little help from her sister-in-law Liz, her recently-retired-from-the-police-force brother Stan and her too-handsome-to-be-real shop assistant Jack. It’s not easy finding a murderer when your most compelling clue is a half-eaten raspberry ripple cupcake, but perhaps a pleasantly-plump cupcake connoisseur is the perfect woman for the job.
This novella-length culinary cozy will take a reader of average speed about 2 hours to finish. As a bonus, the first chapter of the next title in the series: Cherry Chocolate Murder, is included at the end, so the automatically-generated page estimate is a bit inflated.

A Cat Called Cupid: A Romantic Comedy Novella
by Mazy Morris
(101 Reviews)
Genre: Romance | Humor & Entertainment
FREE for a limited time
Cupid the Cat is fed up with his Lady, Ann. She has no taste in men. Her current boyfriend reeks of cologne, is deliberately careless with his feet, and openly states that dogs are fundamentally superior to cats. However, Craig, Cupid and Ann’s human neighbor, is practically perfect. He’s handy with a can opener, he politely steps around napping felines, and he never ever turns up the stereo to earsplitting decibels. It also doesn’t hurt that Craig and his cute Siamese lady-cat come as a package deal.
The way to a cat’s heart may be a can of tuna, but Cupid’s having a little trouble figuring out the key to human relationships. Helping Craig win Ann’s heart proves to be an unexpected challenge. Cupid will have to employ all of his feline wiles to purge the place of the odious cat-hating boyfriend and ensure a happily-ever-after for Craig and Ann.
This sweet PG-rated romantic comedy is standard novella length (27,000 words) and will take an adult reader of average speed about an hour and a half to finish. Contains inexplicit sexual references, mature themes and implied strong language.
