I can’t believe that I am getting anxious to decorate for Valentines day. I feel like I just put away all the Christmas decorations. I remember saying to myself it will be a long time before I decorate again. I guess a long time is a few weeks. Valentines Day is easy though. Just a few hearts here and there, and maybe a few of those cute little pink lights from the dollar section at Target. I used to dread Valentines Day when I was younger. It seemed if I didn’t have a Valentines I was a loser. I remember the closer we got to the day, the more I would freak out like it was a huge exam that I was sure to fail. It turns out the world did not end when I didn’t produce that special guy. Life went on and all was just fine. These days Valentines Day is a lot more fun. Picking out the cards with my baby bassets for them to hand out at school, and maybe making a few heart-shaped cookies is awesome and delicious.

In this psychological thriller, Argus Ward is a former U.S. Secret Service agent who runs a protection agency catering to the rich and famous. His best-kept secret–which he shares with lawyers and doctors and even psychiatrists–is his status as a high-functioning paranoid schizophrenic. One day, with little warning, he turns psychotic for the first time in twenty years. He lands in a secure psychiatric facility, charged with the murder of his most famous client, high tech industry billionaire John Helms, the wealthiest man in America.
Argus has no memory of the killing. A blood test suggests to him that some unknown enemy had switched his anti-psychotic medication with identical-looking dummy pills to purposely drive him insane.
A sign of lingering paranoia? His doctor thinks so. Even his wife.
Yet Argus escapes incarceration to prove his theory. With the law on his trail and a ticking time bomb in his head–due to a lack of medication–he discovers that his disease had been “weaponized” by a powerful group to secretly assassinate John Helms as part of a multiple assassination conspiracy of world-wide significance.
Or has Argus simply lost his mind again? What in the end is “real” and what is only imagination in his story?
And what is justice for the criminally insane?
Come lose your grip on reality. Read CRACK-UP.

This Demon Child shattered that balance. The smart thing to do was get that balance back as quickly as possible.
My main weapon is my sexual thrall but I can’t use that on a child, no matter how evil he is. This time I have to rely on my wits, my skills and worst of all, teamwork! I might just be doomed.

House Calls
by Gary Yarbrough MD
(162 Reviews)
Genre: Medical eBooks | Science
FREE for a limited time
The following twenty-one stories are from actual house calls I have made in three different states during my thirty years of practice as a rural family physician. Some are humorous, some sad, some sublime. I have changed the names and in a few cases altered circumstances slightly to protect privacy as much as possible. I sincerely hope that with these measures – and with some of the details blurry enough in my memory – no one will recognize themselves or acquaintances, or take offense if they do.
I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I appreciated having had the chance to live them. ~The Author
