Is it weird that I get mad at my pup Casper for leaving his toys all over the house? It’s like he has no respect for me. I clean and clean and clean, and he is right behind me dropping his toys left and right all over the floor. Yesterday I found a rat in my bed. Thankfully it was a toy rat. Could you imagine? I would have had to burn that bed to the ground if it were real. I try to reason with him, but every time I try to talk to him he just wiggles at me and tries to jump in my lap. I don’t think he is listening. I will try again when he is older.

In the Congo, an American ship disappears from port on the last day of a scientific expedition to collect DNA samples from the jungle near an abandoned Belgian research station. A month later, the ship runs aground on a Texas beach — and no one on board is alive.
When an elite military force and shadowy intelligence officers descend on the small island town of Port Aransas, Texas, a strong-willed local girl is swept into the search for a dedicated scientist as she and others race to unravel a dark secret before something none of them has ever seen before is unleashed into the world.
In a literary thriller that mirrors today’s headlines, The Deep Green is John Lyman’s most compelling novel yet. Blending scientific fact with provocative fiction, he takes readers on a wild ride to the dark side of genetic engineering, where anything is possible for those with the money and resources to create new life — no matter how devastating the consequences might be for the rest of us.
Intricately layered with remarkable research and detail, the heart-stopping action that builds right up to the end proves once again that bestselling author John Lyman is a master storyteller.

HISTORICAL FICTION: It’s 1931 and men are desperate for jobs. A lucky few will get to work in the searing heat of the Nevada desert on the massive Hoover Dam, the single largest public works project in history. Their goal is to tame the mighty Colorado River with a dam that towers sixty stories high from the base of the canyon to the crest of the dam. In doing so they will create the largest man-made lake in the world. Nothing like it has ever been built.
Life and Death at Hoover Dam tells the story of a handful of these men and the sacrifices they endured. From choking on gasoline fumes in 120-degree heat inside the five-stories-tall diversion tunnels to dangling by slender cables from the thousand-foot walls of Black Canyon, they will put their lives at risk. In the end, these men and the 20,000 others who worked on the dam will build a monument that makes possible the palm trees of Los Angeles and the desert oasis of Phoenix. This is the story of their lives — the men who built the matchless Hoover Dam.
