There are bumble bees the size of VW Bugs flying around my back yard. I love them and they don’t bother me, but OH MY GOLLY they are huge! How can they even get those fat little bodies off the ground with those small wings? At one point one was flying right at me and I actually ducked out of the way. Was he going to hit me? Would it have hurt? I have no idea and I have no intention of finding out. I think a bike helmet is called for until I know for sure they can fly those fat little bodies right.

***FIRST BOOK IN THE BESTSELLING SPREAD SERIES***
It’s spreading…
The Scottish Highlands: a sparse, mountainous region some say was carved by the gods themselves. Few places are as untouched as this harsh, prehistoric landscape. It is no place for man. But nestled deep within the wilderness lies a cottage, and behind that cottage is a hill…
When Ryan Cartwright and a group of his closest friends hire a tiny cottage in the windswept Scottish Highlands to celebrate his upcoming wedding, they get more than they bargained for. Along with the deathly chill and the unforgiving landscape, they are about to discover something unimaginably ancient and unbelievably wicked.
With the party heating up, Ryan’s childhood friend, ‘Mad fer it’ Sean, fills his body with lager and pills, pushing everybody’s patience to their limits, but the real party is yet to begin. You see, something else has gotten inside of Sean’s bloodstream, something far more toxic than the booze and drugs. Something that is at first invisible, but slowly begins to grow… and spread.. and kill.
If you love claustrophobic horror with an unhealthy dose of body-horror, then ‘The Spread’ will knock your socks off.

Twelve years ago, a terrible school bus accident divided a town, but bonded the survivors. Some of them fled the small West Texas town, some remained, and some felt drawn back to the place where they lost their innocence. Beck Conover didn’t intend to do more than check in on his mom in Broken Wheel when he was driving through Texas on his way to his job in Las Vegas. He hadn’t been home in, well, longer than he’d care to admit. But when he gets there, the house is in terrible shape. Despite his contentious relationship with his mom, he decides to stay in town and fix up the house so he doesn’t have to feel guilty about leaving her alone. He’s already hired a home health nurse to check on her, but he doesn’t think she’s getting enough help. When he comes face to face with her nurse, he’s startled to see it’s Lacey Davila, the girl he pulled from the flood waters the day the bus was swept off the road. Lacey Davila stayed in Broken Wheel because she didn’t want her father to be alone after her mother left him, bored by life in this town. Her job as a home health nurse was a natural extension of her need to care for others. Even though she chose to stay, she understands why Beck left, why her mother left. When she discovers she’s pregnant, the child’s father turns his back on her, but Beck is there, stepping in to help as he had the day the bus washed into the creek bed. But like her mother, he will leave when the town gets too small for him. And she’ll be alone. She won’t risk that for herself, or for her unborn child.

It is the winter of 1942, and the world is at war. A few Jewish musicians attempt to flee the Nazi death grip, each desperately trying to navigate his own path to safety. With the courageous aid and kindness of strangers, they soon find themselves in Rome, where under the highly secret help of the Vatican, they are hidden in Bellafortuna, a small village in Sicily. The residents of Bellafortuna welcome them and care for them, and for a fleeting moment, the horrors the musicians are facing are forgotten while residing in the beautiful, idyllic landscape of Sicily.
But word soon reaches the small village that Italy has surrendered, now making Germany at war with Italy. War quickly comes to the village as the Germans storm into Sicily to repel the Allied advance. As Bellafortuna becomes front and center in the raging war, the villagers rise as one to try and protect and save the Jews hiding in their midst. Failure to keep them hidden will mean death to those under their protection… and perhaps even to the villagers themselves.
An intricately plotted and meticulously researched novel, Saving the Music demonstrates how, in the face of death and unspeakable horror, the strength of the human spirit of ordinary people can shine bright through the darkness.
