I might be a horrible person. A VERY horrible person. Every night after I run and jump into bed avoiding the monster under my bed, I get under the blankets and make sure my feet are covered. They have to be covered so the monster under the bed doesn’t grab them while I am sleeping and drag me under to whatever horrible place he wants to take me. It has not occurred to me until just now that my hubby sleeps with his feet outside the blankets. COMPLETELY UNPROTECTED! Do I have the logical thought that maybe this is proof that there is no monster under the bed. Noooo. Remember who you are talking to. Instead, my thought is that he has been lucky this whole time and I must rectify the situation. Now I have to wait until he falls asleep and cover his feet. I will need to stay up at least three hours past my bedtime. Oh man. This is rough. I will need to set an alarm.

Poisoned at the bookclub…
With Baby South-Brown’s arrival just around the corner, Julia joins the local book club during her maternity leave. What better way to rest, relax, and connect with a few of Peridale’s book-loving citizens? But when one of the book clubbers dies during a meeting, everyone’s a suspect.
Meanwhile, with a missing father and a murdered woman already on Barker’s plate – not to mention the poison pen letters demanding his return to novel-writing, or else, arriving with alarming frequency – Barker’s biggest case yet as a private investigator gets more complicated with each passing day. And the Braxton Hicks contractions, baby shower drama, and “Ten Things Every Father Must Do To Prepare For Baby!!” articles aren’t helping matters.
With Barker and Julia’s lives looking disturbingly like one of the novels Barker no longer writes, it will take their combined investigative skills to get to the bottom of the mysteries surrounding them.

What was supposed to be a simple delivery and payday quickly turned into a whole heap more for Max Reeves.
As he sat watching the town of Silverton from the top of a nearby bluff, he saw a regular type mining town, with the standard saloons, hotels, mercantile and of course the Sherrif’s office and jail. It looked innocent, but Max was no fool. Sometimes things just aren’t what they seem.
Take Patty Maguire for instance – this young girl rode and shot like a man, and had an in-charge attitude you didn’t see often in a woman. Intriguing!
What starts as a simple shooting match and fight for a prize soon turns into something else entirely, and sees Max and a Pinkerton man hunting for the elusive Stokes gang in the nearby mountains.
At the end of the day, things are simple in Max’s world. He doesn’t take kindly to those who take advantage of innocent folk. He is the judge and jury, and with his 2 peacemakers justice will be served.
