I am having such a good time taking pictures in the garden, I think I am going to dust off the camera that has been sitting in the closet for over a year (or 5), and see what I can do. There are plenty of Kindle books out there on how to take better pictures, and I really need the help. Out of the thousand pictures I have taken of my bees, maybe only a handful have come out. I have so many blurry bee pictures. It’s a shame to, because they look so cute buzzing from flower to flower. I am really hoping to get a few shots of them battling it out with other bugs for space on a flower. They can be brutal fighters. I would have liked to take pictures of preying mantis, but this year I did not buy an egg. I had them in my cart at the store, but once I thought about the danger the lady bugs, my sweet bees, and even the humming birds would be in, I decided the risk wasn’t worth it. I think the humming bird in my garden is a bit of a jerk, but I don’t want him eaten by a huge bug. ERG!! That would be horrible to see. No thanks.

George Mahood had a nice, easy, comfortable life. He had a job, a house, a wife and kids. But something was missing. He was stuck in a routine of working, changing nappies and cleaning up cat sick. He felt like he was missing out on a lot of what the world had to offer.
He then discovered that it was Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day. The day after that was National Curmudgeon Day, and the day after that was Inane Answering Machine Message Day. In fact, the calendar is FULL of these quirky, weird and wonderful events. He realised that somebody somewhere had created these holidays, believing that they were important enough to warrant their own official day. Surely he should therefore be more appreciative of their existence? So he decided to try and celebrate them all. As you do. He hoped that at the end of the challenge he would be transformed into a happier, more intelligent and more content person.
Follow George on his hilarious, life changing adventure as he tries to balance his normal life with a wealth of new experiences, people, facts and ridiculous situations. It’s a rip-roaring, life-affirming, roller-coaster of a ride, where every day is a holiday.

A battalion of convicts…
Fifty second hand armored vehicles…
A desperate scramble to hold the line…
The Vasilov Worlds are on the edge of Human space. They have fought a war for 35 years against the insectoid Kadan that they have no intention of ending. It’s too essential to a society where the only social movement is via battle promotion. Then it all changes when the Kadan nearly annihilate the front lines.
Vasilov Officer Colonel Cole Clarke has just returned home from service with the Sigg Military. Now that he has learned how the Sigg fight, he’s bringing that knowledge to the Vasilov Military, plus an entire battalion of second hand Sigg Armor purchased on the scrap market. But instead of a fresh battalion of troops, he’s assigned a penal battalion filled with convicts. The Vasilov Military doesn’t accept change easily, even when they need it.
What would happen if an entirely new style of warfare came onto the battlefield? Could a strike force of second hand armor trump the defensive doctrines they’d used for thirty five years or would they be doomed to failure and death on the icy planet Lishun Delta?
One squadron of armor. One Colonel. A thousand of the worst convicts in the Vasilov Military. Will they be up to the task?
