I love that I get to wear my Star Trek costume again tonight. I really do have to find more excuses to wear it. The problem is, if I wear it by myself I look crazy, but with my friend I look awesome. Thankfully I think my friend is as crazy as I am and would wear it again at completely random times as well. I know opposites attract, but crazy attracts crazy.

Sometimes the ghosts that haunt us most aren’t the dead.

It has been nearly a year since writer Thomas Witt lost his daughter in a horrible car accident which nearly killed him. He and his wife are attempting to have another child and put their lives back together. However, he can’t move on.

In addition to his daughter, there’s something else missing — specifically his memories for six months prior to the accident. He finds himself obsessively drawn to accident scenes where he photographs the carnage in attempts to reclaim his memories. But what he finds in the photographs may just destroy him.

Crash is the first non-series book from The Kings of the Serial and bestselling authors, Sean Platt and David Wright.

The Gulf of Tonkin Incident: A Very Brief History
Mark Black
4.4 Stars (16 Reviews)
Genre: History

FREE for a limited time

Want to learn more about history, but don’t think you have the time? Think again.

The Gulf of Tonkin Incident was actually two separate incidents that occurred in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1964, in which the USS Maddox engaged North Vietnamese forces. There is no doubt that the first incident took place, and that the Maddox was targeted by torpedo boats, resulting in a brief confrontation at sea. However, it has now been confirmed that the second incident never took place. This is the cause of great controversy, as it was this second incident that led to the passage of the ‘Gulf of Tonkin Resolution’, which was used by President Lyndon B Johnson as justification to scale up US involvement in the Vietnam War. This fast-paced narrative is an account of the incident, and the aftermath in the US.

The Very Brief History series is intended to give the reader a short, concise account of the most important events in world history. Each book provides the reader with the essential facts concerning a particular event or person; no distractions, just the essential facts, allowing the reader to master the subject in the shortest time possible.

With The Very Brief History series, anyone can become a history expert!

Genre: Humor & Satire | Science Fiction

FREE for a limited time

Cormac McIlhenney is a college student with one minor problem: every other day, he’s been waking up on a whaling ship in the nineteenth century. Which really wouldn’t be that big of a deal if his roommate back in the present wasn’t such a dick.

While Cormac attempts to make the most of his newfound world of harpoons, rum, and erotic scrimshaw, his roommate Vance is determined to exploit the situation for maximum profit. His unlikely partner? The corrupt, shillelagh-toting dean of their college.

Can Cormac survive in a time that is not his own? Can he turn around the fortunes of the most inept whaling ship on the seven seas? And exactly what the hell are Vance and the dean up to in his bedroom on the days he goes back in time?

Gone Whalin’ is a hilarious novel full of pirates, wharf rats, stadium seating couches, cults, dogs wearing sunglasses, journalism scandals, sea shanties, and enormous whale genitals. Beat that, Moby Dick.

Beyond The Pasta; Recipes, Language and Life with an Italian Family
Mark Donovan Leslie
4.8 Stars (34 Reviews)
Genre: Cookbooks, Food & Wine | Travel

FREE for a limited time

Several years ago, on a break between theatrical gigs in Alabama, Mark traveled to Italy and fell in love with the people, food and culture. Armed with just enough courage, minimal Italian language skills, and a certain proficiency in the kitchen, he enrolled in a full-immersion cooking and language program. He would travel to Viterbo, Italy and live with an Italian family. His teachers were beyond his wildest dreams-he learned to cook from the grandmother, or Nonna, of the family, who prepared every meal in a bustling, busy household, as women in her family have done for generations. Her daughter, Alessandra, taught him the language with patience and precision. Besides culinary secrets and prepositions, they opened their lives to him, and made him a real part of their extensive family. Though the book contains authentic, delicious family recipes Nonna shared with Mark, Beyond the Pasta delves into food memoir subject matter not found in a typical cookbook. It was the day-to-day shopping with Nonna, exploring the countryside and le gelaterie, where he truly developed his language skills, and a new, more joyful and uniquely Italian way of looking at the world.
