I got a little lost yesterday in Pinterest looking for cute Easter decorating ideas. I pinned a few of them to my Pinterest board titled Holiday Ideas 2016, and you can click here to view them. I have to wonder though, some of those ideas are so elaborate, do they actually think anyone less than an artist with a golden magic paint brush wand can do those things? Maybe we are not supposed to do them, maybe we are just supposed to marvel at their awesomeness and then get out the PAZ egg coloring kits and get to work. Personally I like decorating with candy. It’s like someone else already did most of the work, but I get credit for the cute display. Plus if I don’t like the way it turned out I just eat it. If I do love it…I eat it. WIN WIN!

Derrick is one of the creatus, created beings who have lived on the earth for more than four thousand years. Many questions surround the origin of these sentient beings who are stronger than humans, eat differently, and live longer. But they were created just as we were, maybe even before us. It is from them we obtain our fairy tales–and our nightmares. They are the reason we believe in superheroes–and monsters. Because… they exist. In the past, they kept the human race safe from an anonymous distance. But now Derrick must come out of the darkness to save a woman he has no business loving, even if doing so may threaten his entire race.

The Creatus Series is not your normal paranormal story… it’s a realistic romantic mystery based on the myths you’ve heard your entire life. Prepare to believe…

Karma Kapinsky: My Life as a Freak
Cori Shepherd Stern
5.0 Stars (15 Reviews)
Genre: Teen & Young Adult | Coming of Age | Humor & Satire

FREE for a limited time

Set in backwoods Florida in 1979, KARMA KAPINSKY: MY LIFE AS A FREAK is a comic novella with monkeys, little people, plastic surgery, Dixie-circuit drive in movies, and one very earnest teenager’s efforts to make it BIG. A hilariously poignant look at one girl’s attempt to bridge the great divide between grand ambitions and absurd reality, the story is told from the point of view of Karma, a fourteen-year-old girl with Hollywood aspirations, growing up in 1979 in a backwater Florida town populated entirely by retired circus freaks. Her best friend is the former professional Fat Lady who runs the town bookmobile, her grandfather is a Little Person undergoing an extensive makeover in an attempt to become the local news anchorman, and her mother is a Disneyphile who travels with the carnival dressed as an ever-revolving series of generic costumed characters – mostly recently appearing in Biloxi in blue faux fur as “Goof-Goof the Dancing Dog.” Barry Manilow, B-movie moguls, and “The Power of Positive Thinking” figure prominently in Karma’s quest to achieve what no other freak has: The Big Time.
