I think my little chickie Stella is just using me for my treats. While the other chickens will let me pet them and give them hugs, Stella really wants very little to do with me other than eat the treats I hand out. That’s why I have made it my personal mission to make her my friend. Yesterday was day one. She was following Iggy and Trudy around while they were inspection the yard work I was doing. Trudy and Iggy are the nosiest little girls I have ever known and are always underfoot when I am in the garden. They are also good for a few hugs, so I don’t mind them being in the way. At one point though, Stella got cornered and I seized the opportunity. Actually I seized her. That did not go over well. Amazingly strong chicken. She even slapped me across the face with her very strong wings a few times. After a few seconds though she gave up and I gave her a few hugs and kisses. I then put her down and walked away. She was not pleased by the events, but she wasn’t eaten either, so I think she trusts me a little more today.
