With Halloween fast approaching and many of us excited to decorate our front yards, I just want to ask people to keep wildlife in mind when decorating. A wonderful reader, Colleen K, sent me an excellent article about the dangers of fake webs and the impact they have on migrating birds, butterflies, and other wildlife that pass through or even live in our yards and neighborhoods. They often get tangled up in the fake webs and die a slow and painful death. Yikes.. that is dark. I am going to bring it back to happy with the great suggestion the article made of using “the thicker rope-like decorations and similar ornaments that don’t entangle birds, small mammals, and insects.” Thanks again Colleen for the article… can I decorate now???
