One of my main goals in the garden is to create a space that looks good year round. I am in my third (fourth??) year of planting, learning from my mistakes, and getting to know what grows great where. There have been a lot of failures, and some great successes. It wasn’t until my neighbor came into the yard herself, looked around and commented that I had such amazing colors and the beds looked fantastic. I was a little thrown off because when I go into the garden I see all the flaws. I looked around ready to point them out and I realized that it actually did look really good. Wait… when did that happen? Usually this time of year the plants are in decline. That’s why I choose different plants and moved things around. It worked, but I hadn’t noticed because I literally hadn’t stopped to smell the roses. I gotta say… I’m feeling kinda good about the garden right now.
