They say bad stuff always comes in threes. I am really hoping this is the case for me. Sunday my dryer died. It up and quit after my last load of laundry for the night. I hung the final load on a clothes line, and tried to be grateful that at least I had all the laundry done for now and I had time to figure it out. The Christmas tree was the next issue. When we put it up late last week, I noticed the center section of lights didn’t work. I jiggled the tree, replaced fuses, unplugged it and plugged it back in. Even blew into the plugged a few times to clear it out. Nope, not even blowing on it fixed it. The tree lights then proceeded to die a little at a time until it completely went out last night. The next item was my car. I wasn’t even near it when it decide to put on a show complete with screaming alarms and flashing lights. Every single light went off, including the front end collision light. Pretty darn grateful I saw that light without having to get into an actual accident. YIKES. The car seat even took me for a ride, sliding back and forth like it was trying to kick me out. I took that a bit personally. There are the three bad things. So, I’m good now right? It should be smooth sailing after this? Please? This is when free Kindle books are great. A free trip to anywhere and anytime you wanna go. No packing necessary.

Christmas is Saltwater Cove’s favourite holiday of the year, but that didn’t stop murder and mayhem from making an unscheduled visit.

The festive spirit is out and about, the eggnog is flowing, mistletoe is hung, and the town is pumped for the most exciting event on the Christmas calendar, the Annual Concert. This year aunt Edie decided it would be a brilliant idea to volunteer me and my best friend, Harriet, to run both Santa’s photo booth and the refreshment stall.

As the celebrations kick-off, things turn complicated fast when my childhood friend, Trixie Snowball, winner of the Elf of the Year contest, reveals she’s lost Santa’s list and is desperate to find it. I agreed to use my magic to help, but things take a turn for the worse when the runner-up of the contest turns up dead behind the refreshment stall, and Trixie is the number one suspect.

Christmas day is fast approaching, and now I’m in a race against time to find a murderer, clear Trixie’s name, bring the real killer to justice and find the list before disappointment rains down on children all over the world. How, oh, how did I get myself into such a predicament?

Excerpt:
“It was that hour when the old hunter on the trail takes off his pack, silently gathers wood for a fire, eats his dinner and smokes his pipe, eyes and ears alert; — that hour when if you speak above a whisper, he will say to you, “Sh-h-h-h! Be quiet! You can’t tell how near we are to game. Everything has had its morning feed and is lying low. The game won’t be moving again for an hour or two, and there may be moose or caribou a gunshot ahead. We couldn’t hear them — now!”
